Very nice. After some experimentation, I finally have a lineup that works
with
a Collins PTO to make a heterodyne exciter: 6BY6 crystal oscillator/mixer,
bandpass filter to a 6CL6 amplifier. Keying the crystal oscillator works
well
with no noticeable chirp or backwave. I also get about 4W of output (which
is
not quite enough to drive a 4-65A, I have discovered); but is plenty to act
as
a crystal replacement, as you observed.
The keyed heterodyne oscillator also works with the output from a BC-221.
I hadn't thought much about doing a transceiver.
