Allowing images to be attached to posts might be nice, but I can certainly
live without it. If I want the reflector to see some images, I upload them
to my web site and provide links. It’s a quick, easy to do, low bandwidth
solution. There are also sites such as photobucket for this.

An issue with attaching images to posts is that they take up bandwidth, and
this may impact people that read posts on their phones using their cellular
provider, or on low speed services. Specifying a maximum size for images
would be necessary. Using links to other sites allows individuals to
determine when and if they want to view the images.

You can lock down FB, but you need to know what to do before hand, and you
need to keep up with FB policies to keep your account locked down. I got
on FB a while ago to get news updates from my son’s Army unit. I used a
dummy email address, and the amount of daily FB related spam that I get on
that account is incredible. I really don’t care if Madonna is trending in
North Dakota….

I would really hate to see the reflector go the way of FB. As it now
stands, the reflector is easy to use, and does not contain a lot of visual
fluff. As Joe Friday would say, “Just the facts ma’am”.

Just because the text based reflector is old technology does not mean it’s
not useful. If you want fluff and glitter, go to FB. If you want good
technical information, use the reflector.
