One more note on the RCA AVT-15.
It's about as simple a transmitter as you could find.
One 6L6 crystal oscillator. One 6L6 modulator.
The frequency range 3200-6700 kHz by fundamental and 2nd harmonic 
operation.
Only advantage i see over SCR-284 ( BC-654 ) for some uses, might be 
lower batter
drain, and greater frequency range.
