I buy & sell surplus military electronics, tech manuals & related stuff in my store on eBay. I was surprised to receive the following email from eBay the other day:

Your listing has been removed: Firearms, Weapons, and Knives

Hello ctenochasma,
After reviewing your eBay account, it looks like you haven’t followed our Firearms, Weapons, and Knives policy. We understand that you may not have been aware of this policy or that this may have been an oversight, so we're including some policy information to help you with your future listings. We also had to take the following actions:
- Listings that didn't follow eBay guidelines have been removed. A list of removed items is available further down in this email.
- We have credited all associated fees except for the final value fee for your listing(s).
Due to laws restricting the sale of explosives, military ordnance and grenades, most of these items aren’t allowed on eBay.
Military ordnance includes items such as weapons, ammunition, equipment, vehicles, and their related parts. This restriction includes items that are considered demilitarized, de-milled, or unserviceable. This is because we can't confirm whether the items have been changed in ways that would make them safe and legal to sell and transport.
Listings for any explosives or grenades are not allowed, including:
- Dummy grenades
- Grenade launchers or grenade-launcher attachments
- Inert grenades (such as curios, display items, memorabilia, or relics)
- Metal grenades
- Military practice grenades
- Mines
- Rifle grenades

At the request of the United States Department of Defense, your manuals were removed. Questions about this action should be directed to the Joint Equipment Assessment Program (JEAP) within the DoD, as we have no additional information. To contact the JEAP you can email them at SMBLOGCOMJEAP at usmc.mil with any questions about items removed at the request of the DoD. The DoD website is http://www.defenselink.mil/ Because the sale of many military items is either prohibited or highly regulated by the government, there are certain items that can't be listed on eBay. This policy is in place to make sure everyone is informed about the restrictions before listing any military items on our site. As many of these items remain the property of the United States Military or similar agencies, we do not allow them to be sold on eBay.
Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with this information and be sure that your current and future listings follow these guidelines. If they don’t, they'll be removed and we may, at our sole discretion, decide not to refund your fees. It could also result in additional actions, including loss of buying and selling privileges on eBay.
If you have any more questions, contact our policy experts. http://ocsnext.ebay.com/ocs/cusr?query=508&domain=email1384

Thanks,
Please note that all of the equipment in these listings is hopelessly obsolete & represents no threat to U.S. National Security.
The U.S. Marine Corps & DoD have hired an engineering firm for millions of $ to generate these lists of forbidden items. But there's a lot more stuff still on eBay that either is just as silly or that could epresent a threat to the U.S.
Anyone have any idea what's going on here? GThanks!
Jack
