[Milsurplus] Gotta Vent

Railway Express no longer exists unfortunately. Sigh.

Anyone who wants to get into the freight business is welcome to do so - if
you can offer a better service than UPS or FedEx the world will beat a path
to your door and you'll deserve your $5M salary. Maybe...

That said, the USPS flat rate boxes are a great bargain if your items are
the right size/weight.

I've shipped over one hundred $50,000 laser/photo instruments via FedEx
Ground and never had an issue (cutout foam in Pelican case). Not to mention
probably 100's of boatanchors via FedEx Ground and UPS (foam to protect
knobs/connectors, etc., bubble wrap, insulation board, tri-wall cardboard
box).
I have received some heavy but delicate gear in excellent shape thanks to
"foam in place" by packing stores.

My motto - Ship unto others as you would have them ship unto you -
