'Vietnam' magazine for Oct. 2015, currently available, has this article, "Are We Coming In Clear?",
about 'Project Jenny', where 4 Lockheed NC-121J aircraft were modified to carry either AM/SW
or television broadcasters. This was in an era, too, of much heavier video equipment. The project
lasted from 1965 - 1970, broadcasting both AFRTS programming and Viet Nam government
channels, until a network of ground stations were completed.
>From this interesting article I also learned of the website
www.blueeaglesofvietnam.com
which has anecdotes and photos. The website however can’t replace the article, which has a more
indepth history and an account from one of the airborne station builder – operators plus other
photos. Recommended.
Blue Eagle has a little more history of use against the gov’t of Cuba and also some test broadcasts
in the USA. I think some of this was recounted in Electronics Illustrated magazine.
