Dave's work with the BC-230/430 caused me to think about the RUGF set also, and about how to make using the rec more
feasible on the air. How about using a converter from the 80M band down to say, the 300-400 kcs range, and then using an
LF coil in the rec? In the BC-229/429, that's 4 tuned circuits, about the equivalent of a single IF bottom-end receiver
selectivity, but "maybe" usable. On the RU, you'd only have 3 tuned circuits of selectivity, as the 4th tuned circuit is
for the CW osc. I don't think regenerative feedback in the RF stages is a very practical idea, as you'd have to have an
external control and also likely an RF gain control too.
I won't be trying these ideas myself, i don't think: equipment that requires control boxes and a slew of connectors
and cables makes me feel the opposite of relaxed.
