Back in the day we use to have a RTI workstation for preserving films, huge table mounted affair that had a viewing screen, digital counter, take up and supply reels and a hot splice block along with a cleaning and preserving block that had solutions for cleaning and preserving film. Would speculate anyone seriously involved with preservation of film will have something like that as part of their system. On any valuable film it's always best to try to find an expert as opposed to just some yahoo who just picked up an old projector at a yard sale.
