[Milsurplus] Lubing Connectors

How tight are you cranking these connectors down? In many years of dealing with this stuff don't think I have ever had a connector that I was not able to take off by hand,  least not the Cannon or Amphenol stuff.  Would think lubricating them is more trouble than it's worth and lead to contamination of the threads or dielectric.
Have used silicone on U-229 and 239 connectors being trying to get them to push and lock dry is almost imposable and find that better than the prescribed military way of just spitting on it.
