Now you've opened up another can o' worms! :-) :-)

CRV-12345 looks to me like a Navy Type Number from before the JAN system
This component would generically be referred to as NT-12345.
CRV-12345 would be an NT-12345 gadget manufactured by RCA (CRV)
whereas CNA-12345 would be an identical unit manufactured by National
(CNA).

NT-12345 might be a component of Navy BBW-1 equipment (which would be
an IFF system bearing no relationship to an AN/BBW-1 underwater
remote-controlled pigeon).

So don't let your data-base engine get confused over the earlier
Signal Corps BC/SCR numbers and earlier Navy NT system
