Ray -- Yes in my search on the net came up with stills and a
youtube walking tour of the plane.
I suspect it was stripped out. .... actually if it was used as a VIP
transport I can guarantee it was stripped out. ( now if only we can
find the closet it was stashed in <grin>)

Looking at the Independence, the VC-54 "Sacred Cow" and the
VC-121"Columbine" may have additional ARC-8 systems installed but no sign of any teletype
or crypto equipment.
It's pure speculation on my part but would assume that until the very late
fifties or around 1960 with the deployment of radios like the 618T, ARR-41
and teleprinters like the Mite (AN/TCG-14) the idea of teletype in an
aircraft would not be practical. But that's just speculation on my part, if it
did happen certain that someone here can point out that I am in error.
