[Milsurplus] BC-645 Conversion

Actually neither story is factual.
The BC-645 aka ABA or SCR-515 was the most sophisticated IFF set for its 
time, BUT, the Brits had established a more primitive setup several years 
before we got involved and introducing our system would have created havoc 
and necessitated converting all the British aircraft.  So we adopted the 
British system and held our sets in reserve.  Also the Germans had a 
tracking radar at about the same frequency as the BC-645 so that would have 
given them a nice beacon signal.  The BC-645 however did see some service in 
the Pacific theatre.
