[Milsurplus] BA-53 battery and IFF fun and games

Thanks to all for the replies for
the BA-53. I made up some replica
units for the current project which
is getting the test equipment for
the SCR-695 IFF set going.

The I-196 signal generator is running,
after finding the RF chokes had corroded
open, and spending time finding replacements
that worked. Apparently they are critical
to circuit operation.

The came the BC-906 freq meter. No
drama here, I made up a battery pack, and
it fired up. Even "measured" the frequency
of a 2 meter handie talkie. It did confirm
the dial calibration at one point. It also
did "see" the I-196.

Today was the BC-1066 test receiver. I found
three leaky micamolds, replaced these, and it
hears the I-196 signal generator just fine, as
long as the two units are sitting right next to
each other. But this is what the book says is
proper.

So now, one of these days, I'll get to the IFF unit
itself, the BC-966. Going to have to figure out how
to test them without using an antenna, however.
