Mike, it looks like you are right.

The manual linked to the ARC-147 is the ARC-51 manual.

The missing box is the ID-1003/ARC UHF VSWR indicator.  It is not unusual for it to be missing.  Replacement units are not too hard to find.

That's interesting then.  The RT-953/ARC-147 looks externally just like a RT-742/ARC-51BX.  I suspect that any internal differences are minimal...doubtless both are Rockwell-Collins gear.

There should be some other contract and MFR numbers on the name plate.  I'd be very interested in knowing what they are.

Well, only those sets that are derived from the original AN/ARC-51 set made by Collins.  Not so many different types, really, but your RT-953 is one.
