[Milsurplus] Using "ARC-5" Cut-off Connectors

Many of us have acquired "ARC-5" cable connectors
that are cut-offs from "armored" or shielded cable.
Getting the old cable stub out of the connector barrel
can be a problem.
Recently exchanged some mail with a member about this.

I remove the screw that holds the insert,
put the connector in a bench vice,
grip the insert with needle-nose pliers inserted in
a couple of the pin sockets and heat the connector barrel
with the cut-off cable stub with a propane torch.
The insert and wires come out in just a few seconds.
Than I use the needle-nose and a screwdriver
to clean out the remaining shield and crud,
leaving a useable connector.
Stinky, but effective.
