Hello Dave

There's an alternative to sweep tubes that's worth a look, and much 
easier to get hold of.

Online, look up the data sheet for the Soviet era Russian GU50. 
Apparently, even tho it
was mainly intended as a military PA tube, it was ALSO used as a 
sweep tube in Soviet
era TV sets.

Maximum rated plate voltage is 1000 VDC, plate dissipation is 40 
watts; it's sort of a 6146B
on steroids.

NOS tubes and sockets are readily available on Ebay.
