Ron:

    Congratulations. Those are nice receivers.

    1. If you want a sneak preview, you can read the manual on BAMA

http://bama.edebris.com/manuals/military/bc312n/

    2. Here is a two-part series on youtube with tips on rebuilding a BC-342:

    3. Expect to replace a lot of caps, especially if yours has the notorious Micamolds. I believe the two videos above show where most of those caps are. The most difficult areas to reach is the under-the-chassis boxes, but those aren't really that difficult as long as you draw diagrams and take your time.

    4. Some of the post-war surplus manuals have some simple (and easily reversed) tube and resistor substitution mods that can boost the audio significantly. I have one of those manuals downloaded, so let me know if you'd like me to email you a copy.

                                     Joe Connor

>OK, I picked up a very nice BC-342 N at an auction last week and have since ordered a manual ( TM-11-850N ) but I just can’t wait! I can’t figure out the relationship between the vernier and the fast tuning!  I suppose I can just wait for the manual but maybe someone can explain it?  And what is the other scale at the bottom of the tuning dial window? It does seem to be multiples of the vernier but not related to the frequency readout...
