[Milsurplus] Carbon Mic Rejuvination

Thanks for the GREAT tips folks! 

I did that (apply AC bias voltage and blow into the mic) then tried another variant w/my other 4 mics (T-17's and T-38's).

Not having a functional AF generator, I tuned off to one side of a local AM station w/ another BA rig and turned on the BFO.

Plugged the mic into the TX and ran the output to a dummy load. 

Held the mic to the speaker and watched the waveform on a basic o'scope while tuning the BFO for max response on the scope (usually ~800-900 Hz).

Cranked up the volume (after removing the hearing aids) and rotated the mics as recommended while transmitting the tone into the dummy load.

All but one improved markedly! The hottest one now rivals my Motorola TMN-1004A w/o yelling.

My table-top and mics thank you!

I'll be on the air tonight for the MRCG-west net and see how they work.
