I only saw one in the air.  At Parks AB in California when I was
on the way to Enewetok when the -Bomb was tested.  !950 or
something like that.   It could have been from Castle.  The office
up front make it look like a big-eyed bug.
In 1961 on Okinawa I met Lt Colonel Marks, who was a "Stand
Board", (Standardization Board), pilot on the B-36.   He said
there were very few places that the B-36 was authorized to land,
because of the weight on the wheels, for one thing.  He said
there were plans for removing the wings, then trucking the rest
of the airframe, if it got into a place it couldn't get out of. He also
said the jets were for take-off, and shut down for cruse.
