Back in 1941, when the US Navy had the run off for the contract development
of the next Navy Flight HF Transmitter, (Can anyone tell me - or where to
find), who were the other three companies that were involved in the proof of
concept demo, what were their transmitter numbers, what did they look like?
and were any of them ever taken further into development and manufacturing??
Any info would be helpful. Any pictures ??
Thanks,
Bill

Century Today
Yes after the Thresher disaster the Subsafe program was adopted and among
-many- requirements was "J" threads on all high pressure valves.
J threads have a radius on both the point and root of the threads to
eliminate stress risers causing cracks that can lead to cracking at
supersonic propagation speed. Subsafe is still one of the most stringent
quality assurance programs.
