[Milsurplus] OT: Loss of USS Thresher, SSN-593 - One-Half Century Today

Yes after the Thresher disaster the Subsafe program was adopted and 
among -many- requirements was "J" threads on all high pressure valves.  
J threads have a radius on both the point and root of the threads to 
eliminate stress risers causing cracks that can lead to cracking at 
supersonic propagation speed.  Subsafe is still one of the most 
stringent quality assurance programs.
