Hi Ray,
I have a homebrew receiver I got from an ARRL handbook that uses several
of those in the mixer, IF amp, BFO, VFO. They quit making them quite a
while back. If you can find them they sell from somewhere in the
neighborhood of ten bucks. There are some newer models available but it
supposed to possible to duplicate their function with a couple of series
connected single gate FETs. I haven't tried that. The ones in my radio
and the half dozen I have in the parts bin are still fine business. I do
intend to whiz up some kind of project that uses them just to check out
the dual single gate idea and verify whether it works or not.
