As AB5S surmised, it's probably mythical, or at least bought in such
small numbers that only a few might still exist. It won't be the first
time a manual has something listed that was never actually acquired,
either. The manuals normally predate the actual production deliveries,
and in the ATD's case there was never a second chance to correct it in a
later contract if that range was cancelled in early production. All of
the ATDs that I have seen were NOS, with no "date entered service" stamp
on the blank plate. That seems to be the experience of most of the folks
who have them. It's not surprising - it was thrown up against the
ATD/ART-13 in the court of military public opinion, the contract dates
being in the same month of 1940.

There are quite a few. Mine is at
http://aafradio.org/flightdeck/ATD.jpg for comparison purposes. I've
been tempted to produce a 9050-15800 KC drawbar and bolt it on the right
hand TU for an April Fool's Day announcement some year. :-) Happily,
the Rajah spark plug connectors for the antenna terminals are still sold
by the auto enthusiasts and were produced in the millions for many
years. The power connectors not so much...

Mike
