[Milsurplus] Hammarlund RBG questions

Cal,
I believe Radioman is correct. The HQ-120 has three subsections in each
section of the band-spread capacitor that are selected by the band
switch to provide appropriate spread for each ham band. This is one of
the marvels of the 120 design. Otherwise, the amount of spread tends to
increase with frequency, and the situation is compounded by the 80-meter
band being a large percentage of the selected band.
The RBG has a simple, one subsection, band-spread capacitor so it's not
going to work with the 120, 129, etc. dial scales. See schematics on BAMA.
