Exactly right.  For some reason, the original ATC had the same system 
that was used on the GP-7 and ATD, all of which had a 'female' set of 
rails that then required mounting to an external shock system if any 
life was to expected from the tubes in an aircraft.  The TCZ had the 
same mount, if I remember correctly the one I had for a while.  
Strangely, I do not recall the shipboard cabinet for the TCZ (the one 
that also contained the power supply) having such shocks - unusual in 
the sense that the physical pulse in the deck from nearby 5" gunfire was 
certainly not kind to electronics.  Perhaps someone who has one could 
correct my impression.

They can be bent up from .063" stainless but that requires a *very* 
stout bar folder to accomplish.  16 gauge stainless is not very forgiving.
