[Milsurplus] WW2 Interception Receivers

Gang,

The Super-Pro seems to have been the preferred receiver to US Army
intercept work, and a lot of other uses that didn't involve being
outdoors. I believe there was considerable government input on the
original design. The Britts used HRO's because it was what they could
get. The gear-driven single-dial does have an advantage when tuning
back to a logged frequency, but none of the wartime shortwave receivers
could be reliably set to a desired frequency without an external
reference. This problem wasn't solved until the introduction of the
double-conversion with crystal-controlled first oscillator Collins
products like the 51J in the post-war period.

Civilian government agencies seem to have had a fair number of SX-28's
in intercept service, usually with a calibrator right next to the radio.
