Determined to get this thing off my bench, I decided to take another look
today. I have been focused on getting the driver circuits tuned up, as I
was not getting rated transmitter power output. Originally designed for
60-80Mc, the RF inductors needed remaking with additional L to get me onto
50Mc. I was stuck thinking that poor Q was dragging me down. I took a
look at the screen voltage on the 28D7 RF PA tube and read 3 Volts. I
couldn't find any tube specs in any of my reference books, but didn't need
them to know that was dead low. The sangamo bypass cap read 350 ohms. I
wonder if this type is like the micamolds, a paper cap in mica cap clothing.
Bang, now I'm getting a couple watts output, good to go.
This set is to talk to the TBS at BB-59.
