[Milsurplus] Old Gear, Long Lives

    The RT 524 and its relatives are more than likely  still in service in 
many areas.  I know the Networked NEW systems that have  been deployed have 
not met with resounding applause and in some cases contracts  have been let 
to provide radio designs from the RT 524 era while the head  scratching goes 
on regarding the "Networked" systems.  What's your take on  this anecdotal  
information?  Not that I'm a real fan of that long  lived family of FM 
units having used and wrenchrd on them for a couple of  decades in the Army 
Guard.
