The "stabilized" marking was a yellow Circle-S.
Most of the production AN/ARC-5 receivers were so stablizied
and marked to satisfy the continual howling of pilots about 'drifty
receivers"
(which were, in fact, quite stable.
It was pilot's fiddle-fingers that were "unstable").
"Circle-M" gear is unique, one-of-a-kind; the rarest of the rare
when it comes to A.R.C. equipment. One example of
each piece of equipment or accessory built by A.R.C.
was pulled from the line, the serial number generally left blank
and was marked with a yellow "Circle-M" and, often, a short
description
(i.e. the ATA transmitter dynamotor in my collection is marked
"ATA" in yellow and has no serial number).
Sadly, many "Circle-M' sets met the same fate as most
A.R.C. gear: Half-converted, subject to ill-conceived hackery,
fiddled and faddled, then thrown on the junk heap.
If you have one of these "Circle-M" pieces,
please treat it kindly;
there are none other of that specific piece in this universe.
