Hue,

You are thinking of the Command variants, where the bias network is in the 
dynamotor.  The Liasion variants like the RU-18 have the bias network in 
each receiver.  Of course, as with the BC-348's, if you ground the B- you short 
out the network.  Also like the BC-348's.
