>You can honestly say the station that took a few days to get back on the
air was "operating in and serving the public interest" . I hope
people will inform the FCC when license renewal time comes for these
staions. I don't want the remote operated one to lose it's license, but
rather to be awakend to it's duty to the community.

-Just about a year back another station nearby town had some problem with
its
satellite link. They would have up to 50 minutes dead air an hour for hours
at end,
the news on the hour would snap in, then go dead shortly after. I thought
about
complaining to the FCC - but this is new times, and maybe the broadcast game
is different now, and the "public service" bit is history. I didn't because
I sometimes
have to deal with the broadcast stations and it would be sort of
embarrassing to
have to deal with them and they'd have my name on some complaint. The other
station with the burned out part, kind of ironic because they have this
announcement
they play that goes, "We sure hope you have a battery powered radio, because
we're
ready with our backup generator". I sometimes wonder if the AM operation is
sort
of squeaking by or what. I was tasked with disconnecting the transmitter
audio
feed line to their site for non-payment. I hate to be in that position, as I
see the
radio people in the local stores, and have talked to the owner. I went over
to
the station after a couple of euphemistically worded advisories over the
phone
didn't seem to do the trick. I'd guess the recent repairs cost them about
$10k
plus almost 2 weeks lost revenue, so I expect to have to play your friendly
enforcer again. -Hue
