Ron, your response went to me, not the group. Now that I re-read this, I
think he was referring to ABS, not PVC. I thought ABS when I read it,
although there is black PVC used in toys, car parts and insulation that I
can think of.
There is gray PVC, much less susceptible to UV radiation, although I've seen
some out in the field that's pretty well burned on the Sun side.
Also keep in mind ABS is cellular in structure, it's like a sponge,
especially at the cut ends which can fill with water/ice/dirt and cause all
sorts of trouble in the presence of electricity. If scratched or abraded,
it can also absorb moisture and can cause it to heat at 2.54 GHz. PVC is
MUCH less hydroscopic compared to ABS.
