Sanded and painted plywood in all the aircraft I've crawled through,  
but I never say never.  I would say that generally the Navy *did*  
usually trim the edge of their desks a lot nicer, though.  The USAAF  
aircraft all seem lucky to simply get a halfway smooth sawn edge on  
theirs...none of this mollycoddling the Navy gave *their* fliers, by  
george!
