Ah the old EBAY...... it is a double edged sword.

many times destroys the intactness of an entire historical collection
( we are speaking of something like a company archives or a leader in
the technologies personal archives when the family bops it off)

and of course the good side of some things at least being
brought to the surface that might have been otherwise trashed.... and a chance
to see and shop for stuff in other states that I would not be
wandering though.

there is no perfect answer... there is no perfect system... 'just be
friends and go out get stuff done and have some fun!

As opposed to what, Dennis? Claiming it was worthless and giving it
away for a song? The financial 're-distribution' mentality doesn't cut
it here. Many of us maintain and support/further our collections and
stations with funding from items we sell.

Kudos to Ron for locating something that is clearly quite rare &
valuable, and moving it on to someone who needed it, wanted it, and
had no issue paying what they thought it was worth. Even our mil-radio
hobby benefits from good ol' capitalism.

It still comes across as sour grapes a.k.a. petty jealousy. As much as
myself and others have carped about ebay over the years (mainly the
ever-changing fee structure), a LOT of great, rare, seldom-seen items
have not only found new homes, but been saved from the landfill of
years ago thanks to the hope of making a few bucks from it instead.
Ron didn't have to lie or deceive anyone, he simply spoke the truth
and let folks decide for themselves. How rude and unfair of him, tsk
tsk.

Congrats Ron, and thank you for saving another rare piece of military
history and getting it into the hands of the right party. You did the
Right thing, and as most know - it's good to be Right.
