Because all those things were not available
to the forces in the field while the war was
still in progress.
Yes, Navy had some good morale radios on
the ships, Trans-Oceanic in Ship's stores, but
the grunts didn't. After the war I was in Berlin,
and the PX had the Echophone for $20.00.
On 15 MHz we got the ZI very well.
