Generally, I repaint the cabinet, etc., and then use a single edged razor blade to remove the paint from the raised letters.  Others use sandpaper, emery paper, etc.

Friends,

I have a BC-348 that was in really tough shape. I'm completely restoring
it. I've completed the electronics and it's working 100%. I've started on
the cosmetics which includes refinishing the front panel and case.

The data plate is metal with raised lettering. How do I make the plate
black with a finish as close as possible to the original?
