Ed -Thanks for the explanation of uplink,  Question still un resolved in 
my mind how blind were the SAM's if the uplink was jammed?  Yet still 
some "lucky" shots brought down or damaged a few planes in a flight,  
WERE there "backup" sensors like the old WW style proximity fuse?  Or 
did the NVA ground radar have enough precision to point and shoot, like 
bird hunting, assuming the target would not change coarse or speed to 
evade collision.
