Hi Roy and everyone else,
Roy is correct, they do quite a lot and i'm sure keeping these warbirds airworthy in no simple task. I was just relating my "popped baloon" story. In the grand sceme of things our love for the radio stuff is a tiny concern. I'd like, in a museam setting, to see the "real deal" as much as possible but at my house it could be painted pink with purple lace, as long as it works I'm happy! True they could have done a much better explanation of work priorites and as far as the "better than thou" additude, it's entirely possible that I came across that way about radio gear. Such is often the way when you are dealing with voluenteer groups. The last thing I wanted to do is to drag up the mod no mod, this is how it must be done, deadhorse threads. I am however all in favor of the good auld balast tube thread now and again!!!
