Amazing.  I've not been reading this thread, and it looks like that decision was 
justified.

Here's another viewpoint, John:  Extend the hand of friendship while being 
ruthless behind the scenes.  Fight the war while waging a massive PR campaign to 
reduce support for the other side.  This is not a new technique and from an 
objective viewpoint, at least on the behind-the-scenes front, we have been 
pretty effective lately in chopping off the many heads of that snake-like 
creature we are fighting.  And we have been using one of our strongest cards, 
technology, to our advantage.  Ownership of the skies and ownership of 
communications have served us well... money well spent.

My only wish is that they wouldn't go destroying so much radio gear nowadays.  
While a lot of gear is pretty useless for general civilian uses, there is still 
a huge amount which we would all love to get our hands on.  And getting some of 
it real cheap would certainly take a little sting off the taxes I've paid 
towards it all!
