I made one BC221 into a receiver. Another into a VFO and I was going to
make one into a QRP rx/tx for field use but have not got around to it
yet.

Too good to throw away and impossible to sell to newbies as they don't
know what they are.

The QST article shows a BC-221 being used to house - and provide tuning
for-a SWL-40.I am considering what to do with my excess of LM (1) and
BC-221 (2) thathavebeen lightly modified, have no tuning books, and
work flawlessly apart fromscratchyswitches and pots. One plan is to
build a decent heterodyne VFO. That waythevery nice but valueless (in
both financial and historical terms) units willbe put tosome use.73,
