The QST article shows a BC-221 being used to house - and provide tuning for
-
a SWL-40.

I am considering what to do with my excess of LM (1) and BC-221 (2) that
have
been lightly modified, have no tuning books, and work flawlessly apart from
scratchy
switches and pots. One plan is to build a decent heterodyne VFO. That way
the
very nice but valueless (in both financial and historical terms) units will
be put to
some use.
