The first five TCS contracts were in 1941.  They were still in service on 
active Fleet units until 1969 or 1970 when those vessels were decommissioned. 
 And on NRF DD's until 1973 or so when they were being replaced by AN/WRC-1 
which has AM capability.  I don't know the actual replacement schedule in 
DESRON 34 but would guess it was finished by '74 or '75.  So that gives a 
span of 32 to 34 years.
