Hi All,
I have 3 dead PRC-25 magnesium batteries on the way from Fair radio that I want to rebuild. Not worried about the 12 volt part, but don't want to fry the 2DF4 filament. I know that the filament voltage is 2.5V and current is 0.345 amps. I am thinking of an adjustable current limited regulator, or just a resistor to handle the current limit. Prefer the resistor in series with a 2 battery pack as it is simple and resistors don't usually fail short circuit. One advantage of the regulator is that I could just hang it on the 12v line and drain all the batteries evenly with filament draw in transmit. I am thinking of using NIMH batteries as they have good current density and I can build a simple IC charger for the pack.
Any suggestions on my ideas would be welcome, finally coming home from the Middle east and looking forward to actually being able to do some work on my radios.
PS. Brooke, your email at pacfic.xnet is bouncing. Website is ok, just email address.
