Just realized, while wiriting my last mail, that you one could insert
either a variable or fixed value shunt capacitor across the fixed value
3-position panel switched fixed coupling cap -- not necessitating other
changes, - maybe also modifying the switch such that the non-coupled
postionto allow a seconf shunting cap -- as one fixed value may not do for
all bands.
The shunting caps could easily be mounted internally and there might be
enough room to bring out the shaft of a variable cap thru either via a new
hole or replacement of the original  3-position panel swicth - thus making
the switchíng function superflous. (I rememeber the switched cap as being
on the output side of the link coupled matching circuit - not  mailing
from home so no schematics on hand.)
