Possible although that was generally only in the 2-3.something MC range
which leaves a lot of capability left over. On the other hand, it may also
have been used to communicate with foreign aircraft still using HF command
equipment. Not everyone kept up with the US et al in that regard.

This seems likely. A few HF channels may be needed (3105 & 6210 KC come to
mind with maybe 2182 KC added to the mix.) although I can't come up with a
reason for 12 channels unless they were also using a *very* limited set of
HF airway frequencies.

That would be wonderful. With the small number of them built, it couldn't
have had a very extensive or "exciting" a career but it would definitely be
good to know what it was.
