I have a AN/Grr-5 that glows to beat the band so I belive lettering paint was still pretty hot on 50's radios.

Does the early TBY, the one with the lamp bulb in both front panel upper
corners, have less radium
than the later, most common version?
I wonder if this is true: most seen TBY and TBX are suffix -8, and these
were least likely to have actually
been used in WW2, if at all.
My friend John Nelson AA7W tells me the Japanese gear is a "real hot item"
too. It looks like radium
paint, at least on their type 94-6 one tube squawkie talkie, but I have
never metered it.
