For whatever reason, some PRC-47s have the VOX function enabled,
which can be extremely annoying when you are expecting regular
PTT operation.
In "Mil Spec Radio Gear Vol 2", I mention that it's possible
to disable the VOX function in the PRC-47, then I forget to say
how in the writeup. Sorry about that! Thanks to a reader for
pointing this out.
The 47 was delivered set up for PTT operation, but if you get
a radio with the VOX enabled, you can disable it by removing the
jumper between pin 11 (PTT) and pin 20 (VOX) on main chassis
connector J1. This connector goes to power supply module A5.
