[Milsurplus] BC-455-B Modification

Was common really to put commands sets on other frequencies by a coil change or
rewinding. They were so readliy availible and low priced. The tuning cap may or
may not have been pruned by pulling plates out to get the set on the
desired band or for bandspreading. The BC-455 IF frequency is good for 10
meters. Images will be out of the rcvrs tuning range. I didn't do the 10 meter
mod but I did band spread a BC-455 for 40 meters. It was worthwhile I
thought and I was mainly a novice cw operator at the time. Lots of cw signals in
the passband to copy and filter out, hi.

Seems like a long way to move a receiver's frequency.

Was it likely just a coil turns change, or were plates likely stripped of
the tuning cap also? I've not opened it up to take a look.

Anybody know if the mod worked at all well?

If anybody fancies it for $25 plus postage, please drop me a note, off-list.

Best,

-John
