Dear 'Nerd', 
 
The buyer pays as well as some sellers raise the real  postage fees to 
cover their Ebay fees. 
 
Time and time again I see figures like £20 or even £30 quoted  on items 
that actually cost about £8 to send. I ask the seller if they can box  the item 
and I'll arrange the carrier, some will, some will not, the will not's  are 
the ones who know fine the real shipping cost but hike it up to compensate  
themselves.
