John:

The best free schematic editor I've found is Eagle by Cadsoft. They have a
freeware version of the software that allows you to create your own
schematic or pcb symbols. It's a little tricky to learn how to edit the
symbols, but you can get the hang of it. There are several tube symbol
libraries you can download and most triode and pentode symbols are ready to
use from that library. You can download the freeware at the following link:

http://www.cadsoft.de/download.htm

You can search their on-line symbol library at the link below:

http://www.cadsoft.de/cgi-bin/download.pl?page=/home/cadsoft/html_public/download.htm.en&dir=eagle/userfiles/libraries

Search the list for "tube" and download the library. It will typically be a
zipped file - unzip it and place in the library folder of the application
then you will be able to browse the library(s) in the editor.

Good Luck
